For a Friend

日本にいた頃とは違い、
枝ものを手にすることが難しい環境の中で、
その土地で出会える花材を大切にしながら、
いけばなと真摯に向き合っている姿に、胸を打たれています。

先日、彼女がいけていた花材を見て、
私も同じ花材で、格花のかたちを探してみました。

いつもと違う花材だからこそ、
見えてくる線もあるのかもしれません。

遠く離れた場所で、
同じように花と向き合っている友を思いながら。　

Since moving away from Japan,
she has found it difficult to obtain the branches that are so readily available here.

And yet, she continues to cherish the materials she finds where she now lives, approaching ikebana with sincerity and dedication.
I am deeply moved by the way she continues to engage with flowers.

Recently, I saw an arrangement she had created with these flowers, and I decided to explore the possibilities of kakubana using the same material.

Perhaps it is precisely when we work with unfamiliar materials that we begin to discover lines we had not seen before.

Thinking of a friend far away,
who continues to face the flowers, just as I do.
